Pine needles next big event is "The Piggy" which is a group lead by Jim Jamieson and is made up of guys from all over the country who share the same love for golf and camaraderie as Jim does.  We look forward to your arrival in early April.

Spring is on the way!

Spring officially started March 20th and we are waiting for the actual start.  The weather looks good this upcoming weekend and the Dogwoods and Azaleas are ready to bloom the first and second week of April.  This will look perfect just in time for The Masters.  Who's ready?

19th Annual Pine Needles Invitational


A field of 120 Amateur golfers from 15 states teed off Friday, March 1, 2013 in the 19th Annual Pine Needles Invitational Golf Tournament at Pine Needles Golf Club & Mid Pines Golf Club in Southern Pines, North Carolina.  This is a very popular team event which annually attracts a strong field of golfers and is played over three days on our Donald Ross Designed Golf Courses.  We offer two divisions (Open & Senior) and cut to the low 48 teams for the final round on Sunday.

Brian Westveer from Charlotte, North Carolina and Scott Harvey, from Greensboro, North Carolina, won the Open Division on the first hole of a sudden death playoff with a birdie over Jimmy Delp from Arlington, Virginia and Buck Brittain from Tazewell, Virginia.  Brian & Scott’s 54-hole total was 65-69-66-200 and was their second victory in the Pine Needles Invitational.  Jon Hurst from Fredericksburg, Virginia and Keith Decker from Martinsville, Virginia finished third with a 54-hole total of 68-67-68-203.  Greg Bales and Vince Nadeau, both from Glen Allen, Virginia and Gary Strickfaden and Sherrill Britt from Southern Pines, North Carolina and West End, North Carolina respectively, tied for fourth place with a 54-hole total of 204.

Harold Payne from Hurricane, West Virginia and Steve Fox from Huntington, West Virginia, won the Senior Division with a 54-hole total of 67-69-70-206.  The teams of Johnny Elam and Steve Grice both from Charlotte, North Carolina, Ed Battle and Terry Crumpler both from Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Dave and Doug Ison from Pedro, Ohio and Jackson, Ohio respectively all tied for second place with a 54-hole total of 209.  Allen Barber from Yorktown, Virginia and Charlie Green from Tazewell, Virginia finished fifth with a 54-hole total of 72-70-68-210.
